On the front instead of worrying about mounting the springs inside the u channel couldn't I just weld a shackle mount under the frame in the correct position? It would probably not be touching the under side completely so I would have to brace it some.

Heres the 2wd drive truck. Rust free and a straight body. 3/4 ton big block.

What do I do for the transfer case mounts? Make my own

I only have like 800 dollars but I have most of the parts and some extras. I have 2 sets of 4" TC hd's. The truck has a brand new steering box witch is a plus. I have multiple sets of extra doors, hoods, fenders. My stepside can donate the drive train[np205, th400, sb 350]. I have a 10 bolt with 8 lug outers so I can have matching wheels..

I know I'm probably missing some things.

I'll be doing some searching on the forums.

My dad was just going to scrap it so I can at least attempt it :haha:. And plus he doesn't have much work so he can help on it when I'm at school and stuff.

Edit: or would something like this work?

Are you asking if you can have shackles at both ends of the spring? If that's what you're asking, no.

If you get the t-case crossmembers from a 4WD truck you can drill holes to make them work.

Just the rear shackle. On the front part I'll weld some spring hangers on.

I have a 4wd truck so thats what I'll do

Thanks

Your question is still vague to me.

Having the shackle at the rear of the spring makes a lot more sense.

Yeah that were it will be just like a stock truck.

I just want to hang the rear shackle under the frame.

I'll draw a picture in paint.

Has anyone actually done the conversion? I searched and only found questions.

if you mount it up like this you will need to box a good section of the frame rail. the o.e. design mounts the bracket to the upright section of the frame railto hold the load. if you mount up what you want with out boxing the frame rails in that area. you will fold up the frame rails and bend stuff all up.

then you will need to lower the front mounts to match the drop you just installed over stock specs. as the springs will sit to low in the back and mess up all the caster/camber built in to the axle.

so sort term save money and time no. but if done right yes it can be done.

So maybe I'm better off just making a custom bracket that goes in the stock location.

But that doesn't the fact that the frame is narrower or wider. I want to say it's .5" narrower. I could ask if Kert could send me the mounts unwelded.

Edit: maybe the frame isn't narrower
