I just finished up the axle swap on my blazer, but the brakes are giving me problems. They pedal is very "mushy". The truck will stop but not until the pedal is to the floor. When you slam on the brakes, it just eases to a stop. They have been bled properly. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a hydraulic problem, indicative of a leak, or air in the system. I know you said you bled them, but do it again, checking for leaks in/around the wheel cylinders.

If you also did a disc swap in back, make sure the calipers are situated so that the bleeder screw is pointing upwards. Otherwise it's a PITA to get the air out.

Also, you didn't say how you bled the brakes, but consider building a pressure bleeder. It can be a pain to make the plate mount to the master cylinder and can still be messy, but my experience is that you get ALL the air out this way.

Well, this is kind of embarrassing... I checked the rear calipers and I mounted them on the wrong sides so the bleeder is facing down.. Haha I'll go fix that and find out if that's the problem.

Has any one else had problems with the off road design long line brake lines for rear disc brakes? The fittings that the kit came with aren't sealing right and when pressure is applied to the brakes, fluid drips out of the junction block. The block is brand new so it's not the problem.

Don't forget to bleed the master cylinder. If all the fluid runs out (very possible) bleeding at the wheels may not eliminate all the air.

I just did a 1 ton axle swap, disc brakes, etc. and have the same problem. I checked for leaks, bled the brakes again, and came to a conclusion that I may need a bigger master cylinder rather than the old 1/2 ton metal cylinder. I'm hoping that will fix the problem, but let me know if you figure it is something else.
