Hey a friend of mine has a 92' chevy pickup 4X4 with a broken rear axel.
how much work would it be to convert it to 3/4 ton.
I know the rear axel is a no brainer, but what about the front.
kinda curious because he can get a 3/4 chevy of the same year.

well, he does have more options...like a bolt of SFA kit made by someone..let me find the site i saw it on. wasn't too expensive either. i think going to a 3/4ton front will just make it 8lug. it's a PITA. we tried it on a truck here about 2 years ago...it was a 99silverado. maybe that body style is diff...but i doubt it. the diff mounts were different on a 3/4 ton compared to a 1/2 ton IFS. i say go sfa and don't look back.

now, that being said...you could go get a 6lug semifloating 14bolt. much beefier than his 10bolt...and he can keep the same wheels/tires. and it saves a BIG BIG headache. that would be my second choice.

Well this truck is a towrig(reason rearend blew up)and he just wanted a beefier rear end.
He tows about 5000lbs
