3/4 Ton Diesel Lost Reverse, It's a FORD! Oh NOOOO!!!

Yup, a friend asked me to look at this truck when I'm in San Francisco. It has lots of new parts, and then lost reverse. Only 137k, xcab, long bed, loaded with the diesel, but I think non turbo.

I'm under the impression that Ford O/D trannys are very complicated/expensive. Thoughts???

Yep, and Ford's AOD probably has one of the worst longevity reputations out there.

My buddy has a 4x4 plow truck with over 200k, and it works fine. 700R4 reputation isn't the best either. What's a good Ford forum? And NO jokes about "no good FORDS"!!!

Ford makes plenty of good stuff but their first attempts at OD auto transmissions did not go well.

I don't think Ford ever used the weenie AOD behind a diesel. If it's an OD tranny then it should be an E4OD (aka E4DOA ).
