are 3.42s good for towing. I have a 1991 with 350, not sure on the tranny or the transfer, and have 33s. Last night i found out that i have the gears that i have. I have only had the truck for 1500 miles.

Later all

3.42 should be okay as long as you're not towing really heavy weights. The longer gears will basically give you less torque in the mid-range, and may force you to downshift earlier while negotiating hills. STAY OUT OF OVERDRIVE WHILE YOU TOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
