3/8" impact, what do you use yours for?

seriously, the only problem i see with that, is on the rare chance that you get a dud. but then again, you are getting it like half price.

whats the deal with the quiet one? seems like any attempt to muffle the noise would cut down on airflow and reduce torque. maybe not. are the noisey ones cheaper?

just wondering. ive become pretty good friends with my matco man past three and a half years. i guess when you buy a toolbox and all your tools from one dist. he better be friendly to you.

cause no one at the dealer has mentioned the Matco people. A friend is coming into town... well he should be here now and is suppossed to get me the local Matco guys number.

I've got a blue point 3/8's, it gets used the most tearing down engines, after that light work like servicing 1/2 shafts on a camry for example.
Working in a dealership you will want one. your air ratchet will be way to slow and the big guns like my I/R are too heavy & clumsey. Of course you could do a lot with the I/R titanium 1/2" or the new snap-on mag series.Strong and light.

I was down @ a friends shop last week, he was showing me his new 3/8 impact from Snap On. 320ftlbs!!!!! and it's compact and light. it,s got an 8 position controll valve. I used it a bit, and I'm sure I could replace my curent 1/2" with it and NEVER look back. I don't know what model # it was, but it would be worth looking into.

I am an experienced GM dealership mechanic. Get the 3/8 impact gun, you will be amazed at how much you will use it....on everything. 1/2 are great but some are to heavy to use day in and day out and also some have way to much torque to use on smaller stuff.
Ohh and by the way........yeah, you can count on doing alot of bitch work, rookies always to. Also don't worry about alot of driveabilty tools, doudt the smog boys will let you touch their gravy. Good luck to you, hand tough, don't let the others push you around to much, stand your ground and work hard and you will earn everyones respect and life will be better, the paychecks will too.

heavily considering getting a butterfly. Love my uncle's. His is used most often for mounting new tires for the modified. Makes short work of the many many beadlock bolts.

I like the butterfly aswell, great power/speed/size.

Wouldn't hurt to have them all though

if i ever need to use 3/8" with my 1/2" impact i just use one of these...

..id get the 1/4 air ratchet, mines pretty handy

i work at national Tire and battery , i love my 3/8 matco impact i use it on everything i can i have a 3/8 air rachet and 1/4 air ratchet , the impac t is first to use if i can figure a way to use it . everyone i work with uses them to break the adjuster sleeves for alighments. we use them all the time . then for me oil changes on cars with skid plates it is invaluable, than on new gm cars with the stiffener for like 3.8's they have the lil thing that goes from front end to strut tower cant think of name but when you do a battery it must be remove i love mine paid $40 used from the independant tool guy it is a Matco but yeah i love to use it and i use it anytime possible
