Can anyone suggest a 3/8" air impact? Looking for good quality but not huge money.

Thanks,
Brett

IR for Air...Snap-On or Dewalt for Cordless.

My Snap-On guy has a used Impact box if you want me to take a look, generally they are quite a bit cheaper then new, Im betting I could get it kitted if you wanted too. I personally dont want to go back to air after cordless.

After thinking about it, cordless wouldn't be out of the question. If you don't mind, ask your snappy guy what he's got. I don't want the local guy to know where I am for fear of chrome fever.

i have a snap-on 3/8 impact air gun great unit for the buck. and i can swap to 1/2 drive by poping the holder pin and swaping the bit.

yes and i.r. kicks a$$

I have been beating the hell out of my IR for years now.
All my guns are composite IR's

I have the Snap on battery powered one, had it for years and it's a great tool as well.

For in the shop with air available you can't beat the composite IR's.

snapons got a 3/8 cordless with 230ftlbs, btw... but 369 new with 2 batteries...

hell i got a used IR ill sell ya for 15 bucks that works, but needs a rebuild kit, in the neighborhood of 40bucks or so in parts...

Snap-On gave me a quote for ya today Brett. 426 tax included, but he figures in a week or two he should have some more at the sale price so they will be 50-60 cheaper.

Crap, I didn't want to spend more on a 3/8" impact than I did on my 1/2":doah:

I'm watching some IR on ebay now.

Thanks for asking!!

Brett

Josh whats wrong with the IR? I'm asking because I broke the directional control on mine friday night

guy told me it was losing power, a motor kit with new vanes would probably clear it up...

is yours the aluminum body or composite? if its aluminum, the fwd/rvs parts are about 12-18 bucks

no problem Brett...ya dont be like me and get chrome fever...I bought a $30 spark plug socket monday...:doah:

I have an IR 3/8 impact. Lighter than the "Strapon" gun and has more power per psi. Love my IR. My local Snapon dealer sold it to me. Goes to show just cause they sell the toold doesnt mean the believe in them. Oh and It was less $$$$

Other than a fin breaking where you'd have to replace it, you can fix any air tool in about 10 min for less than a couple bucks.

ON the IR's the directional control is a tube linked by the gears (buttons on the back) that make it turn back and forth. Mine went out of sync. I found out how to re-sync it and it works like new. Cost was free:waytogo:

happens all the time with the composite IRs, mine are so old and beaten laying in the toolbox, when i grab one to loan, i give them a straight pick to fwd/reverse lol

Well, I ended up getting an IR 2115TI 3/8" Titanium

Got it off ebay for about $80 less than all the stores I was looking at. Very nice gun, wish I would have gotten one years ago:bow: The plastic knob and buttons look a little on the cheap side but other than that it seems very good. Lots of power too.

i bought one a couple of years ago and used it finally a couple of weeks ago when i was moving vehicles. very impressed with the performance. the only bad thing, my nephew wanted to help me and was trying to get the socket off, he took it into his dad's shop and when he brought it back, the snap ring on the anvil was missing. now, the sockets just fall off. :doah:
