Hi guys. What is this fuel container thing that I have by the tailgate of my Jimmy? It has three lines connected to it on the bottom (underneath the bed), routing to the fuel tank and fuel pump, but all three have been capped off by the previous owner. Do I need this? Should I reconnect the lines or not bother? It runs as it is.....

is it the one on the pass side of the bed area that has a tube that goes up into the bed?

No, mine is on the driver side. I found a diagram of it in the Factory assembly manual and it called it a fuel container. Looks like it was used for 2 fuel vapor lines and for the 1 return from the fuel pump, but all 3 have been cut and capped off by a previous owner. I'm thinking I should reconnect them but it will be a lot of work, and since it runs as is, I was wondering how important this thing is.

sorry, drivers side is what i meant, from what I gathered its a vent, i run my vent up it on my tank but thats all.

It's a fuel seperator. It has two lines going in from either side of the tank and one line that goes up to the charcoal canister. I'm sure your canister is long since gone so the seperator isn't needed, in fact I'm sure all of the lines that went to it have long since rotted away.

Make sure the holes in the top of the tank are plugged, you should be able to see them between the body and the frame. You'll also need to make sure your gas cap is vented to prevent pressure and vacuum build up in the tank

I have the same thing in mine - the hoses are rotted away but all the other stuff is still there. When I installed a new gas tank I ended up caping all the old stuff off. That's a good tip on the venting gas cap - I'm honestly not sure if mine is or not.
