Started to change trans filter/fluid in '01 Tahoe Sat. morning. You have to loosen the linkage brace to drop the pan. First #40 Torx bolt came out like butter. The second was a 3 hr. ordeal. After stripping out the inside torx area I attempted to "Vise-Grip" in off. No luck. No room to work. I ended up trying the torch/icecube method. No Luck. Finally I removed the drive shaft, dremil cut off wheel (7 of them) and was able to "Vise-Grip" it off. I saved the bolt to show all my friends how I spent a saturday.
