3 inch in and out muffler

I am looking at some flowmaster super 44s, is a 3inch in and out ok for my truck and engine, or does a full 3 inch exhaust not matter, its a 1978 with a strong 454. Let me know, or do i need a 2.5 in and out, or a 2.5 in and 3 inch out.

I'd go 3" in and out. I am running a 3" in, dual 2.5" out Flowmaster on my big block and was running that setup before on my SBC...works good.

When I needed an exhaust system I went with three inch into 3 inch Cats and into 3 inch in and out Flowmaster 50 series. It is way too much exhaust for the tired small block I run now but I built it for the 454 on the engine stand. It is pretty quiet, no cab drone, at least none I can hear over the tires....
