Is that a good deal, even if they need to be rebuilt? I found a 90 k-5 and he's selling them together for $300. I was wanting to swap out my th350 k-case and my np203 for better gas mileage and driveability.

what does it usually cost to rebuild a 700r4? I'm not going to crawl or offroad this thing, it's my dd, but I do need it to pull trailers every so often.

If you're going to replace a TH350/203 with a 700R4/241 then remember you will also need the NP241 shifter, crossmember, and you will be doing driveshaft mods as well since the 700/241 combo isn't the same length as the 350/203 combo. Also you will need to figure out how you're going to make the convertor lock-up work.

Cost around here to rebuild a 700R4 with the updated parts is about $700-$800 if you bring the unit into the shop.

The setup is still in the blazer, so I could probably get the shifter and crossmember from the guy. My rear shaft is from HAD and I have plenty of spline. The front shaft I could probably get from the guy also since he still has it. My only concern is the electronic speedo since its a 1990. I would do a SYE with a flange from Jess. Or would a 700/208 be a better choice?

The 241 is a better t-case over a 208. Keep in mind that when doing a SYE kit that the t-case will become 3" shorter and your driveshaft will no longer work. You are still going to have to deal with making the lock-up convertor work (painless wiring makes a kit).

What year is your blazer that you're going to swap this combo into?

Well I understand. I am looking at throwing in a 14bff possibly which would be slightly longer than my 12 bolt. Plus my driveshaft that jess made has tons of spline in it. I guess if worst came to worst I would just have to have my driveshaft modified a bit.
