i just picked up an 87 k5 with a 305 tbi, and wanted to switch it to a 4 brrl carb i have laying around. i have a few intakes laying around but i thought i read something about older intakes not fitting on centerbolt heads, something about holes not lining up right. i tried searching but didnt find much, any body got any input on this

The 86 or 87 on up heads have the center intake bolts that are not angled like the older ones.
Question : are you looking for more power out of the carb set up ?

no i was going to put the 305 in an s-10 i have sitting around and didnt feel like going through all the hassle of the tbi wiring and all. i have a carbed 350 in my k5 and several intakes laying around but i dont have any expierence with tbi motors so i figured before i went and tried something i would ask.
so do they make a intake to convert to carbuerated or should i just wire in all this tbi stuff

The aftermarket makes intakes to go either way. Look on-line at Jegs or Summit and you should find what you are wanting.
