I replaced my 305 with 350 on a 85 K5 Blazer that has its dipstick on the drivers side and the dipstick is right below the brake booster and it sucks to check the oil. So when i check the oil when i pull out scraps off the oil on my dipstick. Is there a dipstick that is at a angle?

I put a 77 block in my 85 and didn’t have an issue. I don’t see how the oil could scrape off the stick? Is the oil clean enough you’re not seeing it?
Are you using the proper stick? The tube is an interference fit in the block. There are straight tubes and curved tubes available.
Try laying the stick flat on a piece of paper towel to see where the level is.

I will take picture tomorrow. I think the Stick is way to long. The oil is super clean. i can read the level on the back side of the stick.

Maybe you should drain and measure the oil, then refill and mark your dipstick accordingly?

/\...this, or punch, chisel, metal stamp, anything to make a permanent mark on the dipstick. I’m thinking most standard SBC pans up to 87 will hold 4.5 qts, with another .5 in a standard sized spin on filter.
