i have a quick question. Hve any of you replaced your 25 gallon gas tanks with the 31 gallon? i am planning on getting the 31 gallon tank and fuel sending unit. My question is how much further does it stick down than the 25 gallon? I dont do any serious off roading just some mior trails here and there but it is my daly driver so i want the more fuel capacity but not if i am going to tak a chance on puncturing it on the trails.

Not trying to hi-jack your thread, Rage...

I too am interested in this.
I want to swap my dual 16 gallon tanks on my truck to a 31 gallon Blazer tank under the bed.

So now I'm suscribed!

Going from memory i think the 31 gallon tank hangs about 5 inches below the frame rail. You shouldn't have any issues with it. Don't forget that you will also need new straps to hold the tank in as they are different for the larger tank. Also if you can find the factory skid plate for the tank that will solve any issues anyways.

I have the 31 gallon stock but had to change it out due to rust. I swapped it in with a 25 gallon for temp fix. The 25 gallon is 3 1/2" shorter than the 31 gallon.

only pic I have. I did put the factory skid plate on it.

Is that your Blazer in your sig? That's an 8.5" diff...

Just FYI. :)

There are a few posts on here about the tank differences. Mainly senders, straps, and the tank itself are the differences.

oh yeah i know about the straps to. i have the stock numbers for all the parts i am going to need. just waiting for tax money to start the changes. for the the gas tank swap parts i have the tank, sending unit, straps and anti squeek crap. Also gonna paint the tank with that rust resistant undercoating before i put it in.

Anyone know where i can find a factory skid plate? Before you say it the local junk yards are out of the question. I have raped every part i can get ou of them. Here in VA beach you arent going to find many blazers in a junk yard. they are a hot comodity around here. Beach cruisers and such.

Have you tried jc Whitney or craigslist? If you want I can look here in phoenix az for one? I have a friend who works at a junkyard and can help locate one

hell yeah. craigslist is no help around here either. my blazer has none of the skid plate attached. i cant really complain though. i only spent $800 on the blazer and about $1000 into it already. the ball joins were the most expensive part so far and i still daily drive it 100 miles a day 5 days a week.

I will check on JC whitney now. i get all my parts from LMC but they dont have the skid plates.

Thanks.

I know a guy who has a couple stock ones he may part with, you'd have to come to Richmond to meet up. I'll ask him how much he wants for one if you would like.
