well ive got a 4L80E i was eventually going to have built and swapped into my 6.2 rig to replace my th400. i was thinking that it might actually be cheaper to get a 700r4 built with a 32spline output shaft (ive already got 32spline doubler, and dont want to swap in a 27spline 203). if i went the 700r4 route, i could sell the 4L80E and all the parts i got with it, and get a "bullet-proof" 700r4. i would have a deep first, and a great overdrive, and it would definitely be an easier swap than the 4L80E. the only problem is the 32spline output shaft. i thought advance adapters made one, but i couldnt find it on the site. what do you guys think about that idea? i know people think they are weak, but if i got a built one to handle 650hp, i'm pretty sure it would be ok, no? i would end up having the 4L80E built anyways so i dont see that route being any cheaper.

i need overdrive regardless; 2500rpm at 65mph sucks with the diesel, so its either 700r4 with 32spline output or 4L80E. thoughts?

I didn't think they made a 32 spline for the 700.

With that much HP, the 700 won't stand a chance even if it was built my God himself. People that do have their 700's rebuilt and fork out tons of cash usually regret it later when it takes a dump again and they could of had a 4L80 for almost what they put in the 700. I did a manual conversion to my 4L80 so no computer. Even the Syclone/Typhoon owners are ditching the 700 for the 4L80 because they're tired of replacing it. Thats behind a turbo V6.

well its eventually going to be behind a 6.5, so it wont be a hp monster, but hopefully itll have some grunt. how do you like the full manual valve body? thats an option i forgot about.

muddy, AA does have an adapter. It is about $500. Between that and the build it doesn't put you far off from a 4l80.

My decision was made due to the fact I want to tow, heavy at times. Everyone I spoke to said if you're going to tow stay away from the 700.

Cost for cost I don't think there is much difference once you figure in a $500 output shaft.

its kinda like a dumping alot of cash into a 10b and not getting a d60. just get a nv4500

haha yea i know i really should. its gona end up costing the same prolly

i think you should keep the turbo 400...i mean you might get 5 miles to the gallon more than you will with the 400...im running a 400 and have no plans on going with od...if i ever do it will be like stated above nv4500...

A Buddy of mine's brother own's a tran's shop. He built my friend's 700. The thing is bullet proof. He has alot of coin in it but man he drove the truck like he hated it. Now it is getting a TH400 Custom built , since he no longer street drive's. It is a 2000 Dakota. The last setup in it was a 600+HP GM 383 Stroker in it. Now it has a 6.0L based Twin Turbo engine and TH400/Atlas. It is beefy. It is all about what you want , and what you have to spend.

Hey Shawn, what's going on, buddy? I've done a ton to the blazer.

Later, Tony.
