33 12.5 15 BFG's

It would involve cutting, even on 15x8's with stockish backspacing.

They'll fit as long as you don't turn or hit any bumps.

I tested them again tonite and with some minor shaving of the valance up front I'd be good. I would need to find a set of rims with similar specs to these stock rims. See pics:

Been there, done that.

All I'll say is don't hit bumps or whoops hard.

Wouldn't recommend that. You loose all your down travel.

Best thing to do with GM torsion bar IFS is make sure everything works and leave it alone.

Darn it, so it would stiffen the ride. The truck isnt level now. The rear sits higher.

It's a truck, it's supposed to sit that way. When you load down the rear it sags down and hopefully the truck sits level or only slightly nose up.

12.50's are really wide for that rig, stock.

Put 285/75/16's on there, or the equivalent, and rock them on stock rims.

Quoted for truth. Your hubs and steering parts are going to hate them, even on 15x8's.

Biggest mistake I ever made with mine was not starting by putting the 285's on the stock rims. Would have fit fine. No, I put them on 16x8's with less backspacing than stock, they hit the fenders, so I paid for a 2-3" lift, which sucked and destroyed front end components and was never able to be aligned, the tires stuck out too far, still rubbed if hit hard, blah blah blah blah blah...
3 years and thousands of dollars later I paid to have the kit removed and then a few months later sold the truck. I THREW AWAY the lift kit I was so disgusted with it.
All would have been fine by just putting the 285's on the stock wheels.

Best pic I have of mine. They are 33-12.50 on stock rally wheels. Had to trim the lower corner of the bumper, and the lower part of the fender at the firewall.

Because of cost I may go with 33/10.5/15 on the K5 Aluminum Rims. The 12.5 is clearly too wide for stock and lifting her is not really cost-effective. Or the equivalent to 285/70/16

I run 305/70-16's on my K3500 and they fit ok but I have a 3" BL and trimmed the fang off the front bumper.
If I had to do it again I'd jump on the AJM wagon and say leave it stock and run a regular size tire.

I did a 1-1/4" torsion bar crank two years and 33,000 miles ago with no issues. And there had been a time or two that the vehicle has left the ground:whistle: This is on my 99 Yukon, stock with factory 17x7's with 265-70-17 tires. No issues, other than my wheel bearings going out, partly because of the deep offset wheels I had before, but got rid of because I didn't like them.

After all the fuss on my part, I heeded the advice of my fellow boardees and got 285's on the stock rims. It turned out rather nice and rides so awesome. Thanks Everyone!:waytogo:

IFS is why I dont have a newer chevy to tow with. As AJM said, dont mess with the torsion bars, just run it stock and enjoy.

Sweet, pics? What did you get?

Here's a couple pics. Truck turned out real good, it's now my primary work rig. I damaged my K5 last thursday after hitting some ice and landing in a ditch. I will be working on restoring that one now.

Sweet, pics? What did you get?
