WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

I am getting a set of 35x12.5R15 Super Swampers...FOR FREE. Its 3 superswampers and 1 no name tire, that will hold me off til I can get another super swamper... I saw a singel super swamper on craigslist for $40 bucks.

I will have to check what gears I have too, I keep forgetting.

Anyways, I am excited, free superswampers, with alot of life left from what I was told.

Will I be okay with my axels and stuff?

Axles will be fine unless your doing jumps, have a locker, or doing a ton of wheelspin.. If you are spinning your tires offroad and they touch rock or pavement and get grip..boom, broken axle. Same concept with a locker..spinning and suddenly not, but the gears still are.. or the gears start moving before the tire can spin. Impact-damage.

Check the gears.. you will for sure be fine but just to releive stress off the engine/trans you would want a 3.73ish axle gear.. Otherwise if you get onto the pedal hard before the truck can get moving, your going to fry something.

if you have 2.73 or 3.08s, if you have the money you will definetly be better off with 4.10.. If you have 3.73s your fine untill you go bigger. 3.42s..if it still feels underpowered and stressed for your taste, go with 4.10 later on. (4.10 is the most used axle gear for 35s with your truck..best for all around performance including highway)

OH, i just remembered you have a 12bolt rearend.. Even better!! But the impact theory still applys.. your 10bolt front will be fine as its not your normal power axle and rarely has stress..

Remember, im on 2.73s and it does still move..its just stressfull to the rest of the truck which could lead to damage later on, plus its sluggish as hell. Ill be regearing to 3.73 as my truck's engine has a little more power than yours, and i want good highway milage.

I am doing a 3" exhaust, which should hopefully help with some power issues, right now I stop on it and it goes, but trying to get from 45-70 is a bitch.

So to check my gears, just unbolt it, and look at that number on the flat part, and divide them like you said, then how do I put it all back togher, bolt it up and refil half way?

Also, I can do 35"s without any trimming if I am only doing minor stuff right? Its mainly towing and such when I am going to be running the swampers, getting through thicker dirt up north.

If you can't find the number, then you can count the teeth on the ring and then the pinion, then post up your numbers and someone will tell you what your ratio is. There's a chart around, but I don't remember where off hand.

Whether your tires will fit w/o trimming depends alot on rim width and back spacing. You can run a narrow rim that put's the tire tucked in as far as possible to be on the safe side. It also depends on how flexy your lift springs are. Different brands fex more or less.

Hmm, is re-gearing really hard? I am looking at 4.10 gears, about 40 a piece... is the install hard or something?

40 bucks for a set of gears? Buddy where did you find that deal!!
Maybe used? Everytime i check F/R+install kits are like 450-600 bucks..

And to put the cover back on..youll need a new gasket and gasket sealer.. Talk to someone at Advance Autoparts about that. Indian head or indian something gasket sealer..

To get the old gasket off youll probably need a paint scraper..thats what i had to use to get my paper gasket to come off. Just dont get the gasket scrap inside the differential. Also remember to brake-clean the diff cover and the magnet.. the magnet comes off and you can clean it.

A new gasket is like 5 bucks at advance, i got fel-pro.. you can use RTV too if you know how to do it and which type to use. Indian head gasket sealer is like a buck i think, brake clean is like 2-3 bucks a can. I used Accel 80w90 GL5 gear oil for my differential. You only need GL5 if you have a limited slip

Couldnt tell ya..Id like to know, too.
I would assume you and i would need to order an install kit from somewhere.

Be it 35s or 33s i think all terrain would be best for you, M/Ts in desert sandy conditions sink when you spin the tires.

X2 !
