33's or 35's with a 4" suspention lift stock gearing?

if you know how to drive 33s will be fine. Tire size does not replace skill.

i agree 100%. i get plenty done with open diffs and 31's. in fact, going to a larger tire than your engine or gearing can handle well will work against you, regardless of how good you are. that 1" extra clearance won't get you over that ledge. a more aggressive appearance won't help you plow through that mud puddle. i'm about to put 33x12.5 and a 4 lift on mine, and it's hard to make myself stay away from 35x12.5, for looks. but, 33" will be better for what i do and that's what's important for me.

also, one thing that many people overlook is the brakes. larger tires mean more stress and heat. makes a big difference on hill descents.

Thank you, whats gears will you be running with the 33's? this is what im concerned about, should I get 4:10s or will I be ok with 33's and 3.07 front and 3.08 rears? I just dont want to screw myself in the long run running larger then factory tires on my stock gears..

call me lazy but i haven't actually done a proper check to be sure of my gears. probably 3.08. i need to check soon. with 31s, 80mph+ is easy, and i have no trouble offroad. i don't expect 33" to be a problem with my gears, but the fact that my 700r4 starts pretty low (3.06:1 vs 2.52:1 on a th350) and ends high (.7:1 vs no overdrive on th350) helps make up for diff gearing that is less than desirable.

i say at least try the stock gears before you dump a bunch of money on swapping. another thing to remember is that lower gears put more stress on the axles. just a thought.

Im using 39.5 inch tires with a 4inch lift

I installed a 4" lift, put on some 35s, blew up my stock 10bolt, installed a 12bolt, blew that up, replaced both axles--went to 4:10s and a 14bolt....goin to 38x14.5s next week!!

33s or 35s 6 of one half dozen of the other. Dont listen th the guys that say bigger is better. I mean what are you talking about 1, maby 1.5 stinking inch??? Frankly i preferr 33s with 3.73 or lower.

Jees if you know how to drive 33s will be fine. Tire size does not replace skill.

Thunder, you can't say there is not much difference between 33" and 35" tires. I'm a pic whore so here goes. I also have 3.08 but also a 400sbc with tons of power so I don't notice much diff in performance, but more speed on the fwy. :D I'm not, but if you are aggressive offroad then you might want to save your fenders and go with 33's
