I have a 75K5 with 35" Wild Country Radial RVT tires. Our K5 is mostly driven on streets and hiways, with occasional offroading. These tires have been pretty bad at highway speeds, especially in rain, and snow. Actually downright scary at 60mph in wet conditions!

Can someone recommend a nice 35" tire can give me better performance on-road, especially at high speeds? There seems like so many choices out there, I'd love to hear some recommendations based on personal experience. I love the look of the wild country tires, but really want something more stable on-road.

I'm also hoping to find some rally rims to mount the new tires on. If you know where I can find a new or like new set of those, I would appreciate the advice.

thanks,
Brian

My Blazer runs 38s, Toyos and Mickey baja claw. Truck does 80 no problem and handles the rain @ 65 with rear locker fine.

Fathers '06 CCLB Dmax runs 35s, best tires for that truck have been the last generation ProComp M/T and Nitto trail grappler m/t. The procomps worked best handling the weight of a Dmax, 4" lift, and 11'3" Lance camper while pulling 22' jet boat.

first off slow down in bad conditions .

next a good all terrain like bfg at/ko is a great tire for gen use dd or light off road . and is snow rated . general grabber at2 is few bucks less but not sure if they offer a 35 in 15" rim size.

snow / water / ice = lots of siping = little cuts in tread pattern .

Im running falken wild peak a/ts on my dd and they do great in wet/slick conditions. With the old tires and a Detroit locker in the back it used to be real easy to break the tires loose and slide around in wet conditions and now I cant get it to even when I try. Ive even driven on snow at higher speeds then I should have and felt completely comfortable. Another plus is that they are a fairly cheap tire.

+1 on the WildPeaks in 35, I run them too and they have been great on-road and off and light-years better than my old ProComp MT's on the highway.

x 2..

for street, hard to beat a 35 mall terrain...

I just put a set of nitto terra grapplers on my Dmax great street tire and decent all around tire. Not sure about 15'' wheels though.

I was just gonna ask a question like this...

How are the bfg all terrains in the snow? Local place by me is having a buy three get one free sale black Friday. Trying to decide if I want to pull the trigger on tires. I don't need tires, I just wanna put some rims, I'm bored with the steelies, and the ride would soften up with load range c tires.

I really like the looks of the bfg's because they are very square, and I like square tires. (Yes, I just said that.) But part of me wants a real aggressive tire, but I know I'll never need them.

The bfg is great in snow. Rarely had to use 4wd in my old k5. I have Dunlop mud rover max traction on my dmax now and they are just as good in the snow.

real comercial snow plow guys use good a/t tires over mud treads.

on plowsite.com the guys over there in general over 50% run bfg a/t and or general grabber at2 tires.

there is few bfg a/t treads NOT snow rated so watch it .

mud tread has less rubber for traction .

a/t tires have lots of little blocks of rubber for lot more gripping of surfaces. and sipping = little slits is even better .

this thread has been really helpful, thanks! Based on the feedback, I really like the look of the BFG's so I am going to see what deals I can find this week. Looks like the BFG part number is 49774 and tirerack.com has a set of 4 for $722 after $50 mail in rebate. The Falken's are nice too, and I'm going to keep those in mind as well.

Can you guys suggest a place to get some new wheels? I really love the attached style, but can't seem to find any in good shape. I have 6-lug wheels.

fyi check your local owned tire shops and maybe even walmart .

by the time you ship 4 of them and buy them most mom pop places same price and next day or instock . and walmart some times has them from what I have read .

toss up a wanted ad in the sale section in the wanted spot for rims .

Tire rack wants $1300 for the BFG's in 315/70/17. Local place price (black Friday only) is about a grand with tax plus mount and balance. And that is about all I have in my piggy bank. I'm trying to be more fiscally responsible, so I think I'll pass. I need a pile of money more than I need new rugs. And that's bull****. I don't wanna be an adult! I want toys!

check it out on there site . no snow flake on them in that size = not snow rated . only rated for all weather .

checked a bit more and 285/75/16 not rated for severe snow . but dam if these tires don't performe great .

NOT RATED FOR SEVERE SNOW ? ? ? why I don't know in this size .

and fyi 2 different spec tires in that size.
