Back in February I bought this '75 Jimmy from it's original 72 yr old owner. He purchased it new to pull his camper around the northwest. After a a few trips, he decided the 350 wasn't as strong as he had hoped and swapped in a 454. Other than that, it was pretty much stock. Here is how it looked when I got it......

I've made a few changes since then and today I took the top off for the first time! The rims are temporary, as I have ordered a set of 15x10 steelies and want to run the factory hubcaps.

I wish I could remove mine, at some point it looks like someone sealed the top crevice with liquid weld.

I was thinking of putting a soft top on mine during the summer, I have the roll bar in the rear already, but oh well I guess.

I'm not even sure if mine has ever BEEN removed, looks to have been, but I'm not sure, another thing I wish I had was the full top, I'm jealous

The experience is night & day once you drive around with the top off.

On a sunny day, there really is no better feeling than being in a classic old truck with nothing over your head but big blue sky!! :D

If you haven't learned this the hard way already.....vacuum out the interior really well before you hit the highway for the first time. The wind turbulence has a way of scooping up any dirt and crud that's on the floor and pushing it straight into your eyes.

More pics! :waytogo:

Looks awesome, I like the wheels that were on it, they look like Jackmans, nice old school look on the full vert. I miss my 75.

Quit taking our trucks!

She looks good man.

Sorry, but I really needed a rust free truck to make my mall crawler. Funny part is, it came from Hillsboro of all places.

nice,very nice.

Thanks!

Oh, now you tell me about the flying debris in my eyes :D
Yeah, my '86 & '90 were fun and all with the top off, but you are 100% correct about the feeling of cruising around in a full vert. It's pretty freaking cool.

Jackmans huh? I'd never seen them before. I actually thought of using them, but the chrome was in rough shape on the drivers rear. They are 10" wide rim though. I will probably just put them on Craigslist or something.

That sucks about the liquid weld. Wonder what it would take to take it off? The guy I got this one from claimed the top had never been off, but I was skeptical. Once I got it and started looking, I could tell right away that it hadn't ever been off. The full vert thing was the sole reason I bought another one.

I'm happy enough with the 1/2 top. Took it off a couple weeks ago when it hit 70* for no real reason then went right back to the 30s. All I could think while driving around with the top off was "How have I lived this long without owning one of these trucks?" Even last weekend went out wheeling at 28* and no top. Yup, it was cold but I still enjoyed it.

And the rust free trucks, NO! we will not stop taking them! After finding this truck transplanted here from TX I told myself I would NEVER buy another 20 some year old car/truck from around here again.

Wow, nice! Looked good when you got it (old man look, kinda neat), and looks even better now

Also, don't drive topless the day after moving, say, bales of hay, or specifically, seats to an aircooled Volkswagen, which are stuffed with horse hair, or some material crafted solely to blow into your eyes at high speed and blind you.

Personal experience talking :D

Being from Boston, I know exactly how you feel, when I moved out here, I was in AWE of how clean most these old trucks are, saw an old Blazer (early 70's era) that was in a field, had been there for 10+ years prior to me moving there, was MINT, guy wouldn't sell it, later he passed and the city removed it :(

It's a shame, but this one this post is relevant to, is just too good to be true.

as it goes for the east coasters taking the truck, to find true love, you need to be able to pass inspection :wink1:, Rust in MA is a great way to fail.
