After rebuilding tranny I started bolting the 205 back up and noticed it didnt quite bolt flush to the adapter (Tcase side of adapter) and upon further inspection I found a crack in the adapter plate around the top bolt leading me to believe it was always like this. So I did some measuring and sure enough the clearance cut into the adapter for the snapring around the input bearing (on tcase) is around .030" too shallow:doah:. Anyone ever heard/seen anything like this before?? I guess monday I will be milling a deeper pocket in the adapter unless anyone has a better idea or reason not too. Oh yeah all factory stuff 72 jimmy.

thanks jim

Don't mill the adapter. Do you have a gasket in? The adapter pinches the outer snapring on the input bearing and keeps it from spinning in the case. Post pictures if you can.

Just like GreenieK30 said, you need a gasket (not RTV) because the gasket acts as a shim as well as sealing the t-case to the adapter.

will try to get pics today. that makes sense it never had a gasket just rtv. that must be where the crack came from, cranking down with no gasket.

thanks jim
