I'm about to go pick up a motor, and I don't have a engine lift or any access to one today. Is there any way 2 people could pick it up and heave it into a late model blazer? Or is there any other secrets to hoisting one up without an engine lift?

I have lifted a 350 with a friend and stuck it in a truck bed. The motor did not have heads or intake on it, and I remember it being somewhat tough, but not a real big deal. So, maybe you could partially tear it down and then lift.

Me and a buddy put one in a truck bed once by strapping it to a dolly and kinda slid it over the tailgate. The dolly at least had handles on it so we could kinda lift/slide it into the bed. Not the best method but hey, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do/ work with what you got.

Haha, this motor had everything on it 350 turbo tranny, heads, alternator, water pump, oil pan, intake manifold, power steering pump, and it took 4 of us to lift it into a S10 bed. Nearly killed us.

a friend and i lifted a complete 5.3L by ourselves. my old 350 took 4 of us to safely lift bed-high on my c1500. after doing that, i'm glad i have a engine hoist, now.

You may remember that day, thirty years later. I carried a Honda 550 engine/trans down two flights of stairs. Not worth it.:doah:

I know that when I got my short-block and heads shipped it was around 450 lbs.

I tried to dead lift the short block on my own, and it nearly herniated me.

If you've got a loaded engine... get a lift. It is not worth your backs.
