Going to look at a K20. Owner states it has new engine in '98. This is in a '77 K20.
I am not super savvy on wrench turning, engine rebuilding, etc. But am trying.
I THINK I am looking at a pretty good deal working on this truck.
I want to make sure it has a 350 and not a 305. I did do some initial research on casting codes.
I know where to find them, and can decode the 1st half, but I could care less where it was made or on what date or the year. I want to know how to decode the last 3 characters.....the ones that tell you the displacement.
Is there a specific code to all 350s, ie something as simple as it should say GHF or it's not a 350?
I don't think so, because when I bought my K5 (post purchase) we checked the code (with a Super Chevy enthusiast who will not be with me in BFE when I go look at the pickup) in some type of book.
Any help on what codes or numbers are specifically 350ci engines?
