I have a 91 Burb 3/4 ton with a 350 fuel injected. It has 228K and has low compression on the right bank 70 PSI and Left bank 120 max. I would like a little more power and want to run 36's. How should I rebuild .030 over and stock 350 or 383 stroker? It will be used as an expedition style rig maybe pulling an offroad camping trailer. Any ideas would be of great help.

a good 383 will run you at least $2k

id say .30 over, rv cam maybe some vortec heads

Balls! I say go with a 383 and don't look back. The extra torque that the stroker generates really helps move a 6,000lbs rig.:waytogo:

You gotta worry about emissions ??

I'm in the same boat now.... '90 small block with a tossed rod....
my major concern is will a 383 be able to pass the sniffer test ...

383 passes sniffer test no problem. The torque you get from a 383 is a huge improvement over stock. Night and day difference.

I would add stay away from eagle rods. I had a heck of a time with them. They will not stand behind their product at all and will blame flying space debree from mars as an excuse. (exaggeration but you get my point). Their kits are not machined with any kind of quality control. You will need to go over it with a fine tooth comb and check EVERYTHING. Even then don't expect them to do anything if you find it out of spec. They will claim even though it's out of spec it's normal. Luckily I purchased from Jegs and was able to get a refund with no hassle at all. On mine I found the connecting rod end play out of spec. Max from what I could find was .015 mine was .023

I went with scat afterwards.

I have around $3k into mine. I went way overboard though, I usually do that with everything. If I had to do it all over again not sure I would. I might go with a 6.0L. Hard to say, I would definately put some more effort into researching a 6.0L swap though. Don't get me wrong I love the final outcome of mine. Before I always complained about being able to tow my boat up a hill doing 55 mph. That is not a problem at all now. :) Spinning the 35" tires is also no problem. But a 6.0L swap would deserve a second look IMO. Newer technology, more reliable, better gas mileage. I'm probably in the 8mpg range with my truck now with the 383.
