Hello, I'm looking for a little advice. I just dropped a new/Used Rochester quadrajet Carb on my 350 Small block after my Edelbrock went up in flames. I Was messing around with the motor when it wasn't in time and sprung a gas leak it Backfired and went poof. Quadrajet Carb . . . I'm at a lose as to what to do about the TV Cable hookup. Far as I could gather the Carb is for a standard transmission and I currently have an automatic. Is there adapter linkages out there to go from manual to automatic? Or is there some sort of directions on how to make one myself? I would also like to know if the TV Cable bracket is back to far. Both brackets I'm trying to reuse from my Edelbrock setup the accelerator bracket is fine but I'm not to sure about the TV cable. I don't want my transmission end up in my junk pile along with the Old Rear End, Motor & gearbox.

yea I seen them for sale. But i'm more worried about how the passing( TV ) cable is going to connect to the carb. there is no lower bracket to attach it.

These are the only two pictures I could find from my 79 blazer 350/350, this is factory setup- hope this helps

Anarchy,

The TV cable is not a kickdown cable. TV is an acronym for Throttle Valve. The basic concept is that the position of the throttle controls shift points and line pressures in the transmission. If the TV cable is not adjusted properly the transmission will not shift at the correct points. If you don't hook it up properly you will cause harm to your transmission.

If you Google "tv cable adjustment" or something like that you will find a bunch of info on both the throttle valve concept and how to adjust it properly.

The excellent photos provided by Cornfield are of a carbureted 350 engine/turbo 350 transmission. Turbo 350s do not use a TV cable. They're great photos, but unfortunately don't show what you need to see.

and from the pics you provided, it looks like you have a th350 trans, or at least the cable to one, are you sure about what trans you have?

Sorry I thought it was called a TV Cable. Well What i'm trying to figure out is what a friend of mine calls a "Passing Gear cable" it down shifts the transmission to a lower gear when I mash the gas. I cant seem to find the brackets or adapters for a R-Quadrajet Carb "kickdown cable". Any help would be great.

I might just end up making one. I can't seem to find a kickdown Linkage Adapter for my R-quadrajet carb. I been searching on google. It seems to make one I need need to pull the kickdown cable out till it stops and set my throttle to WOT (wide open throttle) and thats where the bottom linkage should connect to the linkage. So ill just fit on a piece of metal and make it work. I still would rather have the correct part though so it doesn't look like crap =).
