Any one here throw away their tbi setup and throw in a carbed crate engine? The reason why I ask is my 350 tbi spun a bering and im looking for some more ponies and torque. I would rebuild it but i dont have the time and this is my dd. My question is what do i need to do to the fuel tank, how i should run my fuel lines, and what i need to do to get the computer out of that thing? Whats the best way to yank out the engine while using a rented hoist from a parts store. Im thinking of taking out the grille and radiator for clearance while pulling and installing the engine. The truck is on 4 inches lift and 35 in tires. What misc parts will i maybe need to get it running. Thanks for any info on this as i will be starting the project in early July pending my reenlistment.

Here is the engine that im planning on getting.

If it's your DD, the quickest way to get it up and running again would be a stock replacement motor. You'd be suprised how many ponies you'd get with a new engine vs. a worn out one. Plus it would cost way way less to do it as you wouldn't need to change the fuel and ignition system.

I'm with Ryan. Plus, I've always heard that a stroker doesn't have too long of a shelf life, especially as a DD.

I would go with the GM Mr Goodrich crate motor. I put one in my DD and haven't had any trouble. Also, the warranty with these motors is really good.
I would also shop around sometimes dealers will beat an advertised price. Mine did.

Quick and easy way is to get a tbi crate motor. The cam needs to be tbi friendly. Check out this link. This guy has alot of good info:

Then go check out extremefi.com. They have an ebay store, and they sell a TBI ready crate motor with approx. 310HP and 380TQ. You might have to email him if one of the motors is not listed. He says this engine is drop in friendly and comes with everything you will need to complete the job at what I think is a reasonable price.

I have not used any of their products, but their ebay comments look good. I talked with them over emails and seem to be nice and know their stuff.
