I've got an 82 that was originally a 6.2 diesel then swapped to a 5.7 before I purchased it. Fast forward a bit and I now have a completely rebuilt motor (355) with everything new inside!....and a turbo350 trans that just took a dump. I just purchased a t400 w/ a sift kit & new torque converter and really have no idea if anything is going to match up after I bolt on the new 400. Anyone done this before or have any advice?

What t-case were you using?

With the 2wd tail cone removed from the trans, measure how long the tailshaft sticks out of the case.

I did this once haha. The TH350 uses a smaller bolt pattern for the torque converter on the flexplate. My truck had a dual pattern flexplate in it so I didn't have a problem with that. The front and rear driveshaft will be different. I went from a TH350/NP203 to a TH400/NP208 so I had to get both driveshafts, the crossmember, and the the electronic kickdown switch and wiring for the gas pedal. Of course the driveshafts and crossmember depend on the transfercase so there are plenty of differences. As long as you have everything out of a donor vehicle, Its easy.
