Ok, there may be a little confusion. The 454 will go in place of the 350. The 87 has a TH400, which will stay in there. The 454 is comming out of a 91, and a turbo diesel is going in place of the 454. The 4L80E is staying in the 91. The motors are being swapped. hence the ? of will i have to do anything to the 454, and all the connections from the 350 to go onto the 454. The trannys are staying in their respectable trucks.

Got an 87 with a 350TBI/TH400 and was woundering what would have to be changed, what things i would have to do, to put a 91 454TBI with a 4L80E on it right now. The trannys stay, just the motors would be swapped. Just lookin to see what will bolt up, what lines or hook ups would have to be changed, and all that. Thanks Tim

Why would you not keep the 4L80E on the 454? Man thats a 400 with overdrive. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

But you shouldn't have to swap out very much. The ECM, unless your getting a chip made, and you may want to check on the differences between the 400 and 4L80E as far as the T-case is concerned. Someone of more expertise in this area should be along shortly to give you more info. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

They made 4L80E in 91? Find a way to keep it. That is like the holy grail of automatic trannies. Well, that and the new Allison. The bellhousing patterns are generally the same between the SBC and BBC engines. You should be able to use the ECM that is on the 454/4L80E now. The fuel pump from the 350 truck should be fine.
