I might have the chance to trade my set of 32's for some 35's. Problem is that I am on stock suspension, and there is no hope of me getting a lift in the next several months. I'm a full time student and my income is pretty low right now, and I'm working on a paint job first. Anyways, the only wheeling I do around here is driving out on the beach, which consists of mostly flat stuff, but the entrance and some parts get pretty deep ruts in them. Has anyone run this setup?

33's = ok stock if you take it easy.

35's - you need a 4in lift (6in would be perfect)

Willing to cut up some stuff ? = the choices are endless

35's with a stock k5 just ISN"T HAPPENING without a decent amount of cutting. Even with a 1 ton or 3/4 ton trucks and their taller frames 35's stock is a huge stretch without cutting. I am running a 4' lift and I dont rub but with 32's i got rubbing and i couldn't even with being very optimistic think about putting 35's on there. Her is a tip. Member up, read alot and learn as much as you can.

Hmm, guess I'll have to wait it out. Just for reference I had an 84 K5 before and ran a 4 inch and 35's on it. I never rubbed in that truck, was just gonna try to cram them in there and take it easy so I wouldn't have to drop 800 dollars on some new shoes later on.

And with this truck I plan on doing either a 4 or 6 inch lift, and 35's or 36's depending on where I end up going with it.

if you are going to lift - do a 6in and be done with it the first time. I had a 4in ( which worked ok with 35's) but decided to add a few inches.. now I have 6in total and it looks a lot better IMO...

It all personal preference - but I like some "breathing room" with my tires a lift. Don't like the jammed up look.

4in lift (with some saggy as$)

6in lift - no saggy as$

I'm running 35's on stock suspension, but it took alot of cutting. I had rust and bondo in the way, so I had little remorse about breaking out the sawzall. Definitely need a lift cause I want to flex, and this rubs easily.

wasn't there an exact thread on this a week ago?

couple sawzall blades don't cost much....if you don't want to cut don't bother. if you don't have the money for a proper lift, you don't have the money for the rest of the stuff you may need, like gears.......come up the $25 for a membership first, it's worth every cent.

Here's my 89 K-5 in November 2005. 35s and no lift. no trimming in the rear and a slight trim in the front, rubbed the front inner wheel wells but nothing to damage anything.

Btw where abouts are you located in northern IL?

you must not make any turns............:haha:

Hahaha... I was thinking the same thing! Honestly, that doesn't even seem possible to run that setup without some major rubbing/ cutting. Then again, if you don't stuff your front wheels very much or take your turns slow, then MAYBE.

Cool that it works for him though!

wouldnt recommend it although with trimming its easily attainable, I got a 4'' lift and when it came time to me to get new tires i went with 33's again just because the 33's flexed so nice and NEVER RUBBED. Although my rig has done alot of stuff it shouldnt physically be able to do, Hell i had a filler hose come out from overflexing it and my front driveshaft went through the exhaust on another occassion. I dont even want to look at my bump stops :doah:. If your going for high speed sand stuff and jumping i'd focus more on increasing your up travel instead of your tire size.

back in '84 or so i had my first truck on 35's with a 2 1/2" lift..........i realized i had to cut the fenders withing a 1/2 mile of driving in this God forsaken city......potholes and moguls that could swallow a schoolbus.....you can turn a corner and just about smash your head on the roof. it's just the fact in this city. my new brand new '85 ended up with that suspension and axles, i didn't even drive it before i cut it. i like 35's, but i don't want to do the work to get the truck setup correctly. 33's will do the job just fine for what i need. and it's fine on 3.73's in 30 spline 10 bolts. mine were all cut pretty much like Muddermilitia's truck

i think that Jesse? had some 35 X 13.5's on his and he said it wasn't too tooo bad, pics in the other thread somewhere.
