36 military on steelies?

16.5's are the rim sizes the pop beads on the trail more so than a 16 or 15" rim.
although i have been running 40" swampers on my 16.5 steelies in the woods to no evail so....

This has been discussed a few times before but 16.5 wheels do not have the safety bead that holds the tire on the wheel at lower air pressures.

Will non-beadlock wheels hold the tire on? If you run the proper air pressure, say 25+psi you should be fine. However if you run them with low air pressure and no beadlocks expect to become an expert in re-seating beads on the trail.

Ive ran 16.5 non-beadlock wheels before, even offroad and never lost a bead but I dont let them get below 30 psi. With my 15" wheels Im running 8 psi and havent lost a bead, yet:whistle:

Yeah I know, you can't beat that price though. I just can't stand the way my truck looks with 31's which are super skinny. Haha

The other option is the 37" goodyears which are a radial and much better suited for street use, plus a similar price.

16.5's were common for years and years. We ran air pressures down to 15#'s quite often, never lost a bead in numerous trucks over 20+ years.

Keep them above 15#'s of air, you'll be fine.
