I have a guy wanting to trade me my 36x13.5x16 irok radials, for some 39.5x13.5x16 bias. Both are right at brand new. My truck isnt a daily driven truck, but im mainly concerned with wear. I like to drive my rig to the trail head.

So what would you do? Assuming both tires in excellent shape. How hard are the 39.5s to balance? Should i do it, if he has them swapped and balanced?

If they'll fit your truck and you want to go bigger, then I see no reason not to. Especially if he's covering swap and balance costs.

What about drivability? Ive heard that bias ply are squirly. I commonly hit 80+ in my blazer. I understand that of course the larger sidewall its going to want to fold more, but im worried about the composition of the tire. Also, ive read they are more prone to puncture? Im not rock crawling, but its just another question.

The flat spots run out quick when you start driving. I had SX's on my old K5 and never had a problem on the highway running 85. I think Bias are actually less puncture prone, but I may be wrong on that. If it were me, I would do it.

I wouldnt get rid of radials. You'll regret it if you're really doing highway speeds like that. Plus the wear factor. Plus I doubt you'll get the balanced out, gonna need lots of airsoft bbs. Plus they get flat spots, and yes they do go away but in the cold cold winter if you dont drive your truck for a few days you'll feel like you're driving on octagons for the first few blocks.

They have airsoft Pellets in them and they are pretty decent on the street.

Oh and they're Pitbulls not Swampers so they are way better nearly as good as a radial

I ran 39.5" Biased IROKS on my truck as a daily driver until they were bald. On the highway I drove 80+ Mph everywhere and never had a problem.

The tires would flat spot if left in one place for more than a day or so but it would clear up after a few miles.

Since those wore out I put 42" Biased TSL's on, but I have only driven less than 500 miles since I got the 42's

How well does this work on balancing and how much do you need in each tires?
I just got some 38/15.5 SSR radials.

I dont have a problem with my 39.5s on the street, but I wouldnt even consider driving 80 on them, thats borderline retarted honestly, if you blow one of them out at that speed, you will never be able to get the truck under control before it comes to a stop. And i never even wasted the money to balance mine, at the weight of a 39in bogger, plus the nature of bias tires, i just decided to not spend the extra money.

Gus is bringing a thread from the dead. This was iroks for iroks originally. Jeremy wanted to trade Gus. Now Gus has 39.5 pitbulls, and I have a burb now, not a k5. I'm considering trading Gus just because the burb is so much bigger.
