Is it possible to put 37x12.5 hummer takeoffs with stock H1 wheels on an 88 crew cab dually with out a lift. I'm not affraid off the sawzall and dont care about looks. I'm just not sure if the tires will hit other components, master cylinder, frame, etc.,etc. I figured I'd order some from trailworthyfab so that I could play with my truck a little this spring. I wont be able to do much to it as far as mods for awhile. that will also allow me to lose the rear outer fenders and have a SRW I believe.

Ive read some where on here that the duallys axles are the perfect width to run stock H1's. So I assume that they would basically work the same:dunno: that isn't far off from my final goal size of 39.5x13.5 though. I may be able to just go with what i want right away. :hack:

guess i should have read the whole question huh?

so he will need some spacers or some 14 bolt srw hubs for the rear then

I will?? I was under the impression that the DRW rear axle was perfect for stock H1s??

A DRW Dana 70 rear is the same dimension WMS to WMS as a DW Dana 60 front because the front wheel and the inside rear wheel run in the same track. You can run stock center H1 wheels on both ends. As for 37s without a lift? Maybe not.

I just slapped a set of h1 tires and wheels on my dually. I'll have to get a pic for you

It's on a 4" lift and I'll have to trim if it ever moves

they stick out quite a bit so when turning your not going to miss the outside fenders like on the link with the SRW truck

sweet i'd love to see that pic. I thought the front and rear inner were they same track.

That link has a lot of info, but too much work for me. I think it would be cheaper and easier to just get 2 stock and 2 custom back spaced h1s from trailworthyfab. and use a stock one as a spare. Its not like I'm gonna rotate the tires on it. :D

Well you are going to have to run spacers anyway. So just get spacers for the rear so you can just use normal stock H1s.

Then you don't have to dick around with 2 different wheels

If I had two offsets I would not need spacers. and the money it would cost for spacers is the same as getting the custom back spacing. Spacers are fine but if you dont have to use them why do it:dunno: I may be thinking differently than the normal here. but I believe spacers were only made for those who have wheels or want wheels that cant be easily found or modified for their desired application. which isnt the case on a trail only rock rig. IMHO.

2 diffrent rims will look :sign9: if you ask me.

just buy 2 spacers and bolt on.

i got 2 3" spacers on my k30 drw c&c rear to make it srw width basicly. works perfectly. no cutting of the long drw studs also. been runnin this for a bit now no problems.

I wasnt thinkin 2 different rims, just backspacing. you'd never notice it unless you were really paying attention. I was just thinkin of the old school 'Spacers are bad' Idea thats been beaten into me through my dad. If theres not really an issue with them I guess it would be fine. I would rather not have the deep back spacing on an abused truck myself. But stock H1s are cheaper and I wouldnt have to find hubs, change to disc and all that. So I'll have to suffer with it for now. Some day I may convert it all to SRW stuff so I can run other rims( ie. non solid face for ease of washing behind them) but right now I just want the cheapest possible way to get more aggressive tires n wheels for wheelin this spring. Plus get rid of the wide rear fenders. Thats were the 37x12.5x16.5 and H1s thread started. $800 for rims and tires. Thats better than even buying a set of tires alone for the stock wheels. Plus they look cooler:thumb:

I would go with the spacers, or running a different hub as opposed to two different wheels (Yes, I know they are both H1's, but a recentered Hummer wheel looks much different than a standard one). Carrying two spare would also ad to the cost.

the more i think of it that is the way to go, I wouldnt have carried 2 spares though. It would have only been a 2" difference so a stock one would have worked on either end to get me home or off the trail. but I'll have to get spacers I guess. I just sold my quads so I'll have more money for my projects now. Maybe i'll lift it and do the stuff i want alot sooner than expected.
