I'm getting ready to buy tires and wheels for my blazer. I'm taking some advice from y'all and I'm going to stick with a 37" tire. I was looking at the 37x13.5x17 BFG mud terrain. I'm looking for new wheels and discount tire has some 17x9 wheels for $86/ea. Just a basic blac steel wheel. Question is should I be concerned about popping a bead with a wheel this narrow on a tire this wide? I don't plan on airing down very much when I crawl if at all. Truck is mainly a street truck.

That will be fine, quite good actually, the 9" width is the inside bead of the rim, which means the outside width is likely around 10" total. Also, the 13.5 is likely the cross section (the sidewall bulge), the actual tread width is probably about 10 - 11" wide, the same or a little wider than the outer part of the rim.

I ran a 36x14.5" tire on a 9.75" rim for years and it looked and worked fine.

One thing to add, if it's mainly a street truck, why not get the 37x12.5R17? Should be lighter and less weight and friction on the street and more tire clearance for turning and fenders.

Pretty common setup, you won't have a problem.
I run a 17x8.5 rim on a 13.5" wide tire.

Good to know. Just seemed a little narrow.

I'd think a 12.50 would look a touch narrow but you are right in other aspects.

It's been years since I've messed with big tires and lifted vehicles so I'm having to relearn everything.

My truck is a 37x12.5R17 with a 17x9 rim for reference, you can see the changeover in the bottom of the post #431 in my build if you want to see what they would look like.

That's the size I had on my 74 k5.
Sold it now but I liked the look and it performed really well.

I ran 37x13.50 toyos on H2 wheels and they were fine and they’re only 8.5” wide. The only thing that sucked was they would rub on the suspension because of the backspace and the tire being bulged out a little more. Other than that they were fine. They even held up at 135mph. Lol
