383 vortec

i am build a 383 stroker from a 1996 vortec block and heads i was wondering i use the old roller cam if i can use the same push rods, and chip would i need another one

GMPP makes a drop in replacement 383 for the Vortec 350s. I would look that up and model your build after that. Pretty sure it doesn't come with a new chip or anything like that but not sure.

that engine is slightly different bore/stroke if I recall, but that shouldn't affect the other parts of the engine.

If you increase displacement your going to need to rechip the ECU if you intend to take advantage of the bigger motor. There are some members here that can do that or you could also contact Brian at tbichips.com

I don't understand the question all too well, but the stock cam will act like a smaller cam when combined with the bigger displacement of the 383. If you are going through the process of stroking it I would put a larger cam in, or replace your rockers with 1.6 ratio and burn a new chip.

Just to be clear, what is this in? My low budget suggestion for a cam is the lt1 stock cam. If you are using the stock long block the current pushrods will be fine. I would be careful on 1.6s, for 2 reasons. First they like to float valves and second you are getting close to seal to retainer bind on stock vortec heads (.457 on the exhaust if I found the right specs).
