O.K. I tried some searching but it's 4:18a.m. so maybe I missed something. I did the 52in spring swap on my 1980 Jimmy, 5in blocks in the rear (for now), crossover steering, shocks, no sway bar currently and put on my 38x12.50x15 TSL's. I now have a bounce like the flat spot when they are cold but it really never goes away. Had some of the vibration removed with balance beads but this bounce is driving my wife and I nuts. Anything under 25-30mph and up down up down up down. Any thoughts, ideas, whatever? I need to get this figured out since I drive it to the trails and on trips.

I had these on my Scout previously and had no prob, just a little vibration from the no balance thing.

There's a difference between "balance" and "out of round".

You can't balance a tire to make it round no matter what you do.... The first step is to figure out which tire (or tires) are out of round. Put the truck on jackstands so that you can spin the tires by hand.

Sight across the top of the tire and focus on a spot in the background (in the wheelwell somewhere) then slowly spin the tire and keep watching that same spot. If the tire has a high or low spot you will see the tread moving relative to that spot you're focusing on. That will tell you how many of your tires are out-of-round.

From there you can play around with putting the most round tires on the front axle to make it drive better, or you can spend the money to have the tires "trued". I had my Swampers cut to make them round and it made a phenomenal difference. Basically it's a tire lathe that cuts the high spots off so that they are truly round.

This thread is about 5 years old now (WOW time flies!) but here is the whole story about what I did and how it worked.
