how about a 454 all aluminum sbc? expensive and not very practical but I saw one in a magazine the other day. start at like $15k

For that much, I would but a crate HEMI and change trannies.

I tow a 28 ft. camper alot with this K5 and living in Mississippi where it gets to 100+* and 90% humidity during the summer, I definitely don't need an engine that is prone to overheating.

If you use heads with steam holes , and the 4 core radiator its a non-issue . The 400 is not prone to overheating , it was just the general public , and what they do to stuff that gave it a bad reputation .

Normal gearheads don't have much motor trouble

Are there any aftermarket heads with steam holes or do I have to go with stock 400 heads?

You can use any Darn head you want... as long as you drill the steam holes.
