3D Printing

Got a plan to CAD this up, can some one give me the dimensions for the opening on the switch hole and the Ram mounting surface?

I'm so sorry, I saw this during our trip and completely forgot about it when I got home. I'll get the dims tonight.

Well, my idea crashed and burned tonight. :(

While getting the measurements tonight I got to wondering how close the 4spd shifter would be - it’s too close. In 3rd gear the stick is about 4.5”-5” from the dash, the RAM mount is about 6” long. Every way I turn / angle it I either hit the dash, hit the shifter or the phone screen isn’t visible from the driver’s seat.

@eodcoduto I really appreciate your willingness to make the part. I hope you haven’t put a lot of time in to setting up for this.

I haven’t done sh*t so no problem! On my ‘85 I had a CUCV dash bezel so I mounted my phone mount to the blocked off A/C vent above the heater controls. That worked great and the phone was right at eye level.

Any members / vendors here offer 3D printing services?

I have a RAM cell phone mount but would rather not drill into the dash. I was thinking about making a bracket to go into the rectangular power tailgate window hole that I can screw the phone mount to. Do y'all think it would work?
I do printing!

Funny you mention that… I have switches in the upper a/c vent spot but I’m not using a radio and planned to make a block off plate for that spot, I’ll look at putting it there. Thanks! :thumb:

It seems that RAM wants everything mounted with a double-joint, which is problematic in a lot of instances, as you can see. If you could get the dash mount to be a socket instead of a ball you should save 3" or so. There are 3-D printed RAM accessories on Etsy and they are printing the ball, so supposedly, that it compatible.
