3rd gen Camaro\'s

I think I'm going to buy a 3rd gen for a daily driver. Most likely will have to be a V6 for insurance though, unless I change provider's and find a cheap one. What's the good and bad about these cars?

Re: 3rd gen Camaro\'s

The good is that they are GMs, the bad is that they still aren't as cool as a Firebird. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a few third gens. I like the third gens because they don't handle bad right out of the box and they can be greatly modified fairly cheaply. My biggest pet peave about them is the dash is large enough to land a jet on.

I had a 84 that we replaced the 305 with a slightly built 350. It was a beater car, so I really didn't car about it too much. Also had a 91 with the V-6. Real nice car, but not as fun too drive as the 84.

Re: 3rd gen Camaro\'s

That was my plan, buy a 3rd gen Camaro RS for insurance purposes. Then build a 350 for it and put a HP suspension on it. I love the 3rd gens. Plus some RS's come with ground effects which look cool.

ive got a 3rd gen now, its fun real fun. Insurance sucks compared to a blazer no matter how you look at it. I like to think of it like gas, real men dont care about gas mileage or insurance. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Almost got the Camaro but the Firehawk looked just a bit sweeter to me. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Smoked one of those today in Colorado Springs, not too bad for a production car, almost had to use my nitrous.

Re: 3rd gen Camaro\'s

Paul,
The tunnel ram is going on my red R/S, more than likely this winter after the Harley Rally season is over. I still have a few rally's to attend and that kills my time. In the winter is when I do all of my engine building and related fun stuff. (unless something breaks). I finally got the block to the machine shop for boring and balancing though. I am hoping to get that car into the low elevens or maybe high tens and still be able to drive it to work... Problem is that under 12 seconds I need a full cage and that makes it hard to get out of for an old geezer like me.. LOL
