I have searched but havent found anyone that has put a 3rd row seat in a K5 to make it a 8 or 9 passenger. I am also looking at possible jump seats like my 70 FJ-40 has except bigger for the blazer. Any thoughts or Ideas for this? I need more room but cant sell my Blazer, I guess its a disease!

Pardon the crappy cell phone pics, but here is the "3rd row seating" in my 1985 K5.

bibblock72 did a nice job of putting adding a 3rd row in his. Pics are in his thread in the first gen forum.

:waytogo:LOL! While that works great in many cases, im looking to be a little more child/street legal friendly. I have an 83 K5 that I have considered selling to get a suburban so I have more room for the family. I decided why not just add seats and keep my dependable K5 that I already have put money into and not start all over again. I have looked at a lot of suburban's that people are willing to trade but my K5 is much cleaner than any other subs I've looked at thus far. So any ideas for "Real" seating would be great.

I took a look at Bigblock72's build and that setup looks perfect. Im waiting on my bender still then will be ready to go!

Seems like another K5 back seat in the way back as a 3rd row might work.

This.

I thought about doing this and it should be easy enough to do. You have to get the floor holes for the seat latch (a little fab work) and drill two holes for the bolts, but then just put another seat in facing backwards. Kids can hop in and out of the tailgate.

Problem solved.

I think you might run into legal trouble if you were to install a seat where there previously was none. Wasn't designed for it nor any modifications you do will be entirely on you if someone is injured or killed riding in that spot. Not to mention in a rollover i cant see much protection being back there with just the fiberglass top. Kinda along the same lines as grinding down calipers to fit on a rim. Never seen one fail but if you kill someone because you cant stop you best believe you going to be responsible for it in today's ridiculous litigious society.

If you plan on carrying 8 or 9 people regularly, I would look into some suspension and axle mods, easiest would be 3/4 ton springs and a 3/4 ton 14 bolt axle.
