As some of you may know my rear 10 bolt kinda went away. I have been debating even fixing the truck.

But I have been collecting parts. My question is with my tbi 350, 700-241 combo amd 35's would you run 4.10 or 4.56?

This will be going into a shaved disc braked 14 bolt. I have both rear gear sets and have a 4.56 for my front 10 bolt.

The local terrain is sand and mud. I would like to do well on all types of terrain. I will hardly ever be driven on the road.

Thanks guys let me know .

4.56... 4.10's would have less pull than 3.73's with 31" tires. Even if the RPMs ended up being the same, you'll still need more torque to turn the bigger, heavier tires effectively.

you can go lower than that with a 700r4... 4.88s or 5.13s are possible

start plugging numbers into: http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
use "stock" for one side, and then modified on the other, you can figure out what RPM you want on the freeway and what your best crawl speed would be, its all personal choice... given what you said about lack of on road, go as deep as possible

Run the 4.56 , or lower if you want . I am currently running 4.56 with a 305/700r4/np208 combo . Awesome wakeup call to the rig running trails , it just creeps .

Neat thing is on the freeway , in OD , rpm's waaaaay low . I mean like 2000-2200 rpm at 65-70

I drive slower though when I have a plug in my sidewall , did I mention the wheeling is better with low gears :wink1:

4.56s for sure.

I have 4.10s w/ 32s and 700r on my 83. it works well, but with 35s or bigger id want the lower gear ratio for sure.

Bigger is too hard on parts. On the ten bolts I went almost everwhere. (almost) Once I build my hybrid 14 with a locker It should be good to go.

Thanks again guys.
