What about a big LS engine? I've had two 6.2L and they are badass engines :pimp:

Yes they are....love driving wifey's Escalade when she lets me.

I would agree that for the money 4.10 to 4.56 is not worth the money. I vote to regear, but to go 4.88. WHY are you only considering 4.56? WHY are guys so chicken to drop in a proper gear set?

I ALWAYS resort to the same philosophy when it comes to these threads. The 4.10/31" tire combo that GM used all through the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's.. with a SBC or BBC was a GREAT all around gear ratio. I drove a 4.10/31/454/TH400 combo for years and it was geared perfectly, I didn't even have OD.

You have 35's, an OD trans, and a less than torquey SBC. Drop a set of 4.88's or even 5.13's if you don't drive highway a LOT. 4.88's will put you right in that 4.10/31 sweet spot range.

For reference, I'm running a nv4500 and 4.56 gears on 37" tires. It's not bad at all other than 1st gear being kinda useless and I've kinda tuned it for the lower RPM range.

I will say that my big block truck was more fun with the 33's and 4:56 gears than it is now with the 35's. I would have gone with 4:88 if I had more than a 12 bolt under it.

So , yeah, I wouldn't bother with the small drop to 4:56. Go deeper or save the money.
