Is it possable? Are the motor mounts the same or are the 4.3 the same as 350s? will clutch from the 2.8 work on the 4.3? is the ('85) 2.8 tranie the same as a 4.3(new clutch flywheel and slave)? We would definetly use a carbed 4.3 sence the 3.8 is carbed. So is this a farily simple swap or is there stuff that im missing?

My understanding is that they're different animals. I've heard it's about as much work doing a 4.3 swap as it is doing a 350 swap.

Yes it is possible, but it will NOT be cheap.

Mounts are not the same as 2.8L. They are the same as 350, but in a different place.

Clutch and flywheel are different.

Trans may live with easy driving.

Bellhousing is different. MIGHT be able to use a V-8 F-body bellhousing to adapt motor to trans. Not sure about pilot diameter being same/different.

Radiator is different (inlet/outlet on wrong sides)

I had a customer do this a few years ago and spent a bunch of money to pull it off. With the '88's and newer being relatively cheap, it might be chaper in the end to get one already set up with the 4.3L.

He is right.

Why not use a 3.4 out of a Firebird or camaro? That's what I did with the 2.8 in my Cherokee. Changed front cover so access drives would work, put in elec. fuel pump cause 3.4 has no mech fuel pump drive, and re-balance flywheel. Better gas mileage, ALOT more power. Has to be out of a Firebird or Camaro cause that's the only RWD 3.4 GM produced.
