So, Patty's current DD is a nice little K1500 with a 4.3/4L60E/NV241 its a great little truck but the mileage isn't as good as I expected and the power sucks. but for her uses it was fine.
well we let a buddy borrow it and it came back with a rod knock
Its still drivable for her short commute of less then 2 miles so she is just babying it and using my Crew Cab for longer trips.
I was gonna replace the engine with a longblock but the cheapest I've found is about 1500.00 bucks and I don't really want to spend that kind of money on a "stock replacement"
I have a 91 R3500 I just started to part out that has a 60,000 mile 5.7 it has a Edelbrock intake,mild cam, throttle body spacer,Injector spacer,salad bowl,Serpentine conversion, IFS truck headers,Gear reduction starter,Jet Stage 2 chip and 3" exhaust with Magnaflow muffler.
In the R3500 it got 16mpg and had plenty of power.
I want to swap this engine in to the IFS truck. I'm thinking the only thing I would have to do is swap chips in the computer and the engine should bolt in and run with no issues. other then changing fan shrouds ( which I have from another truck I parted out) and adding the oil filter adapter
