So I replaced my stock 700r4 with a 700 from a 4.3L S-10. It works, but it shifts soft and at high rpms. Does anybody know why?

4.3L 700r4 shifts soft behind 5.7L. Why?

They have different bands or clutches, I know the v6 700's are different from the v8 ones. if you rebuilt it with a kit for the v8 700 it should be fine.
Far as I know, the V6 model has one less clutch in all the packs making it weaker than the V8 model. It is probably shifting at higher RPM's because the governor is set for a V6, which revs higher than most V8's, I think. I would put in a shift kit to help it last a little longer but it probably won't last very long. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
