4.3L question - Is it worth buying a set of Vortec heads to put on my 4.3?

I know this thread has gotten all sorts of sidetracked, mostly by me but I do have some good news. The cast iron marine intake manifold has been sitting in 2 gallons of evaporust for the past few days, I rotate it once a day or so to make sure that both sides of the intake are getting submerged.

That really rough area where the thermostat seats is pretty much flat now, the evaporust did a good job on taking care of that for me.
