I'm a novice when it comes to owning my very own K series. I'm pretty young and lack the knowledge of some of the older guys when it comes down to the brass tax.

My Question: I have a fully stock 1989 V10 (K5) Blazer. I'm looking to purchase some American Raceline Fuel 8 Rims. (http://amzn.com/B000VHCLR2) to get rid of my old rusty rims I have now. They are 16x8"/6x5.5" and the backspacing of 4.5". Amazon states they will fit, however my much more knowledgeable step father says I should do my homework before I start ordering these puppies. Will they fit without having to tamper with anything? Will they stick out of the sides of the fenders? Most importantly, are American Raceline rims even worth purchasing?

Thanks guys.

I put some 16x8 ProComp 7069 with 4'' BS on my 89' K5 and they fit fine. The factory wheels were 3.25'' If I remember right, So that puts the ones you want under the truck 1.25'' more than stock. The 4.5'' BS should work fine from what I was told when I was researching for wheels to put my truck.

I just went out and popped my head in to the tire well to see how much play I have. From the looks of it, I don't even have half an inch of space left before the tire hits the tie rod spindel with the stock rims. How could that be?

Factory 15x8's had 4" of backspacing.

I ran 16x8's with 4" of backspacing on my '89 with no issues. I think that 4.5" of backspacing would give you issues as you saw.

Thanks so much man, exactly what I was looking for. I'll toss some 4" on it and call it a day. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

Just found these rims on amazon. Do you think they would fit given my current dilemma? They have a quarter of an inch more backspacing than the stock rims, if the stock rims has 4"of backspacing like you say they do. Keep in mind these are 16's and the stock rims are 15's.

Could you go out and take a picture of how close your Tie Rod Spindel is from your tire/rim? I'm interested to see if you are as close to rubbing as I am.

I honestly am not sure. I know them being 16's would theoretically give you another half inch of clearance but I don't remember how close mine were.
Aluminum wheels will have thicker material then steel wheels obviously.

I know a guy that works at Discount Tire, I think i'll hit him up and see what he thinks. I'm hoping the extra inch will clear the rim enough so that the tie rod spindle will sit inside the rim rather than be so close to rubbing the tire.

I'd say your best bet is to trial fit some rims.

Remember to leave space for weights.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to get on the forums today, I'll try to get you a pic tomorrow if you still need it.

That would be great. I'd say it would ease my mind about having to trial fit some rims if I could just take a look at your 16x9 4" backspacing setup. Thanks in advance.

might not be much help, but this is a 17" H2 wheel, I believe they are 5.25" back spaced? I know the are tucked in a bit more than the stock ones were.

It helps more than you think, I appreciate it. This gives me an idea of how other rims might fit. You're running those with no wheel spacers, right?
