is it overkill or will it rev just a little high? i rarely see highway and i plan on getting 37's in the future. im just starting to plan my lift/14b build as i got out of debt..looks like im about to get back in it:haha:

basically im gonna rebuild the 14b/lock it, then get it under truck, then lift, then 37's. but im just not sure on whether or not i sure use those gears with 33's

that would work just fine. i was going to run 5.13s with 35s, but then got out of control and got 40s.

currently running 5.13s and 36s...spins up a hair higher than id like, but its great in the city...just a little rev happy on the highway. Its something like 2400 RPM at 65 mph in my truck...4.56s and 33s should be relatively close to the same overall gearing.

Are you running a 700R4? If you are then I would recommend at least 4.88's but would recommend 5.13's. If I had to do it all over again with my trail truck that doesn't see much highway anymore I would go with 5.13's.

When I ran 4.56's with my 32" tires it was GREAT. Now that I have 37's with 4.56's it is ok but I wish I had more gear.

wow I thought 4.56s and 35s would be low. I'm running 4.10s and 33s with my 10bolts and I'm going to be getting a d44 and 14ff with 4.56s with the plans of running 35s.

For a none OD truck that sees highway use above 65 mph on a regular basis then 4.10's or 4.56's are a good match. For a truck with OD your 4.56's will act like 3.20 ish gear in OD. With 35+" tires a 3.20 gear in OD is going to be underwhelming. A 5.13 gear is a good choice for an OD tranny on the highway with 35+" tires to put it in a good powerband for cruising.

For a truck that doesn't seem much highway then as deep of a gear as you can get 5.13's (commonly available) is the best bet for a trail truck.

I had 4.10s w/33s and non-OD trans. Not for me thanks. I like there to be some fuel left in my tank after I get to the trailhead. ;)

Right now I wish I had 5.13's even more since I have a trailer queen. It is still DD capable & I could drive it to and from the trails but with a diesel & a trailer it probably won't happen much.

My longterm goal with the K5 has changed a little so I am actually happy with 4.56's & 37's. I am going to ditch the OD tranny & make the K5 a hunting rig/light-moderate wheeler that might get driven more in the long term.

33's here and running 4.10 and a 700r4. I am happy with her on a diesel but if it were gas the 4.56 would be better all around.

Since you have overdrive and plan on 37s later you might as well regear once and go 5.13. I run 37s with 4.10 and in OD I spin about 1700 it is a real dog. I would really consider 5.13s if I were you specially if it does not see alot of highway.

so would you just lock the 14b and put it under the truck, then once your ready for 37's regear..or would you run the 5.13s with the 33's and not even come close to a highway?

fastest i usually go is 50-55 mph and thats to goto work

With 5.13 gears, 700R4, & 33" tires (actual height is probably closer to 32") your cruise RPM @ 70 mph = 2640rpm.

2640 rpm @ 70 mph isn't terrible at all.

A guy with 4.10 gears, no OD, & 33's (32 actual) will be turning 3,000 rpm to run 70 mph.

Doable

:D Out here that would be the slow lane and you would probably get a ticket for Obstruction of the flow of traffic! J.K.:D

Trust me I know. I am that silver Dodge that everyone passes and bitches about. I work alot in SoCal & you people are nuts when it comes to driving.

People in Socal are crazy & drive like animals, people in Phoenix just don't know how to drive, & people in Denver are just a$$holes. This is all majority speaking wise, not anything personal about the areas or people on here. :D
