I am helping a buddy build a truck and having never had a normal 4" or 6" lift, or 52s up front I was wondering if you guys think its worth it to do the 52" up front instead of just a normal 4 or 6" lift. The biggest tire the truck will see is probably 37s, trimming in not a problem. The truck is used in everything rocks mud snow trail rides etc. I am almost leaning towards a 4" lift( tuff country or bds of course) with some zero rates to get around 5". With a rear shackle flip.

Mostly I am looking for guys who have had 4 or 6" lifts and gone to 52s. Keep in mine this is a mild truck that will always be driven to the trail, no matter how far away the trail is

i would just get a set of 4 or 6 inch springs and move the rear mont foward and get some longer shckles...thats what georgia gabe did at least..i did my 52s cause i wanted to get better approach angle for hills...and to get the tire out the firewall..

Do the 52's, then you will have an excuse to do crossover earlier!

Crossover is in the plans as are one ton axles, but everything is an issue of money. I think after today fuel injection went to the top of his list.

The whole FI thing went to the top of my list pretty quick too. Sucks having to restart your chit all the time that and having no vacumm for brakes

I would do 52's. Since 1 tons are one the list, just get the 52's done then it all can lead to MORE. I drive a 98 chevy SAS w/52 as my DD and have no problems driving it all over.

If money is an issue then what could be cheaper then a set of cheap ars stock 52" springs from a junk yard that give you approx 3.5-4" of lift? Do a home made shackle flip on the rear and call it good. Put a piece of brake line on the carb for now.
Mine carb- You'd be surprised at how well this works.

Shackle angle ain't the best- rides hard in the rear but the brackets can be relocated to cure that. Cheap and easy! I have a 6" lift. This set up with a 2" add a leaf gets me there.
