Torque shootout.

Richard Holdener doing his thing on the dyno. Interesting stuff...this part 1

Wow. Been reading on the cam that's going in the L29 I bought.

This cam with upgraded springs in stock heads does not make less than 450 ft lbs from 2000 rpm until just under 5000 rpm.

I'm done with diesels....lol

I love my 350, it makes fun noises and does the job. However, I have been really thinking about a big block. It's the torque I'm after. Any opinions on the HT502 from GMPP? 406 hp and 541 ft lbs. Easy swap for my truck. View attachment 415320

Do eet! I fully condone a big block swap.

Big blocks are like bacon, they make everything better. And they are also like Franks Red Hot since I put big blocks in everything....trucks, cars, boats...

I am in the process of building a 502 for a customer starting with a GM 502 short block I sourced and swapping the cam, adding aluminum heads and EFI.

@cheavyk10 you can't go wrong with a 502. I can get you a 502 shortblock, my source has one left in stock. But they don't currently have any left of the HT502 long blocks.

Big blocks are on another level when it comes to torque.

@Big Ray, did you buy an L29 too now?

Also, to add to above, you guys might want to check out this other related thread @ZooMad75 started from several months back...

Kind of a silly question but what kind of fuel injection can you do on these? What Holley kit would work?

The Holley HP, Dominator, or Terminator X would work fine, also the ProFlo4 is available, FAST, BS3, whatever you want.

Do they all use the same connectors? do you use the factory throttle body? I have been spoiled with a LS for awhile I forget how these older engines work.

Some, not all. You would need a different wire harness, or some of it anyway.

As far as hardware parts is parts.

As far as ecm, that's where it gets complicated.

There's FAST, Holley, Edelbrock, any number of brands.

If you can tune you can use a factory 0411 PCM unit. The L29 is a 4x system. Use a Vortec distributor to make it work.

I recently learned the L29 only came with 19lb oem injectors. Thats what came on the TBI MPFI conversion kit I bought for the 350.

This is per LT Tolmans yt page. He's a big 454 and 8.1 guy.

Yes I did. The one obijuank5 was selling. When I'm finished I will have 3 bad ass rigs.

A 350, a 400, and a 454.
