I knew I needed some diesel. Stopped off at the smoke shop first to pick up a carton, pulling out to go across the street to fuel up, and it stumbled and died.

I was on a fairly good incline waiting to pull out. So I started it back up and pulled out and filled up, 26.4 gallons, so I had about 4.5 gallons of fuel still in the tank. Should that have stumbled? I figured sure if I pushed it to a gallon. It wasn't a terrible incline, but a good one.

Freaked me out :D I was like oh lawdy, get me across the street. I don't usually let it go that low, but I have had wanted to get a lot of fuel out to put all new in, even stopped at O'reilleys to pick up a thing of diesel kleen (with the IP lubricator stuff). Anyone else stumble at about 4-5 gallons on an incline?

17.4mpg though, up from 16.9 last fill up. City/rural drivin' :waytogo:

On another note, pump shutting off at $75 is ridiculous, with today's prices? I was like WTF. My normal gas station doesn't shut off. And since I was still all wierded out from it shutting off, I pulled up to the pump on the wrong side :haha:

Here is an add for an 82 6.2 jimmy. It says 25 or 31.

31 gallons? Sticks way past the frame rails.

EDIT: Yup, after I see that last post. 25 and 31 is what I've always know. Obviously it's not 25 if I put in 26.4 or so :)

The ad lies..

"Extensive Anti-Corrosion Measures"...galvanized panels,bla-bla bla...

..didn't stop mine from turning back into iron ore!..

I believe the part about the gas tank capacity though...

interesting that they didn't offer manual transmissions in California. I wonder why? couple years before I was born in 85

Probably due to emissions requirements. Each transmission a vehicle offers has to be tested/certified for EPA emissions. Often, if a transmission is deemed not popular enough in certain markets, or if the emissions requirements are stringent and expensive to certify (like California) a manufacturer may opt not to offer particular options in certain areas, or at all.

My '90 with the 6.2 has the 31 gallon tank. If you look at the area of the bottom of the tank those 4 gallons is probably less than 1" deep, so coming to a stop on an incline and a little slosh it's quite reasonable to get a gulp of air which would cause it to stall.

I dunno, never seen the inside of one of these tanks.

1" of fuel inside the tank made me want to go measure the tank and figure it out. 2 feet squared with 4 gallons, wonder the depth of fuel. Guessing on 2ft, still have yet to measure.
